Southend-on-Sea Borough Council began consulting residents on the concept of regenerating the Queensway Estate and made big four decisions to demolish towers, transform the road, offer residents same terms and conditions and agreed scope of project.
Southend-on Sea- Borough Council started work on procurement process and started informal engagement with possible partners.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council confirmed their desired outcomes for the project and announced this.
Procurement Process started March 2018.
Selection of Swan Housing Association as Borough’s preferred partner.
Contracts signed for a 30-year joint venture partnership between the Borough and Swan.
Social Life Survey carried out to identify the strengths and weaknesses, needs, aspirations and opportunities presented by this regeneration and to enable the development of the “Better Queensway for everyone” programme of community investment. It also provides an evidence baseline to enable the measurement of the impact of this programme and the wider estate regeneration.

Design Consultation commences.
The hybrid Planning Application for the Better Queensway masterplan was submitted in September 2020.
The hybrid Plannng Application will go to Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Planning Committee in spring 2021 for determination by the Committee.
If it receives a positive recommendation, the Phase One Reserved Matters Application for the detail of the housing and park in Phase One will be validated by the Council and determined in summer 2021.
Once the council has approved the hybrid application and the detailed application, work can begin to deliver on the project.
The project team will continue to prepare for starting work on the project by progressing further site survey work including ground investigations early 2021.
Enabling works to the highway and utilities will start later in 2021. The work to deliver the housing should be able to begin by 2022.
