Better Queensway Regeneration up for National Awards!
We at the BQ team are really confident that our plans for the Queensway will transform the whole area for the better however hearing that others think our scheme, when complete, will improve lives and communities every day, is fantastic!
We hope you will share our joy in finding out that BQ has been shortlisted and commended in not one, but two well-respected awards – ‘The Pineapples’ and ‘The Municipal Journal’ awards (known as the MJ’s).
Although up against tough competition from across the UK, the Southend-on-Sea, Better Queensway scheme, has been shortlisted for ‘Future Place’ in The Pineapples Awards for Place.
The prestigious Pineapples support the ‘best in place’, celebrating excellence in placemaking. Developments that will ‘thrive, where people want to live, work, play, shop or learn’. The team got to tell the judges all about the scheme and their presentation was broadcast live earlier this month. The overall winner of the ‘Future Place’ category will be announced on Friday 16 July.
We’re also excited to announce that Better Queensway has been recognised as ‘commended’ for the ‘Best Social Housing Initiative’ at this year’s The Municipal Journal Awards and shortlisted for Environment & Sustainability Initiative of the Year as part of this year’s British Construction Industry Awards (BCIA). The overall winners for BCIA Awards will be announced in September 2021.
Last but not least, our joint masterplan architects for Better Queensway – LDA Design – have entered the scheme for the ‘Landscape Institute Awards 2021’ for ‘Excellence in Masterplanning and Urban Design’. Finalists to be announced in September 2021!
Wishing all those shortlisted the best of luck!
