Wellbeing at Garon Park

Some of you may have already visited this local attraction but for those of you that haven’t, we highly recommend Garon Park for its family, friendly activities and many outdoor facilities.

Garon Park is an open park and cricket ground for all to enjoy, not far from the Queensway estate. Home to Old Southendian Football Club and Old Southendian & Southchurch Cricket Club, there’s also music, family events and festivals on 19 acres of parkland. Here’s just some of the activities going on throughout the year:

Holiday Activity & Food programme

Free nature activities, sports, arts and crafts and cooking sessions for children aged 8-11 years on free school meals, 9am – 1pm Monday – Thursday (selected holiday weeks).

Garon Park shed

The chance to learn new woodwork skills and get involved with new projects with those that share the same passion; every Tuesday and Friday, 10am – 1pm.

Sunday Open Days

The vitality park is open to the public every Sunday from 9am – 5pm. This beautiful 19-acre site is open to all by following a pathway around the park. From 1pm, the nature school is also open to the public allowing visitors to enjoy the nature garden, wildlife pond, natural habitats with bug hotels and nature watching stations. There’s also a takeaway cafe and children’s play area on site.

Job Club

Every Wednesday, 11:15am – 12:15pm, Job Club provides computers to search for your ideal job, write and print your CV. An advisor is also on hand to help you write a CV, apply for jobs, identify useful websites for job searching, interview skills & preparation and advice on what to expect in the workplace.
