The ‘hybrid’ planning application, which is the overarching plan for the entire estate, has been approved.
In the meantime, plans are being developed for the first phase of the project, which will see the removal of Quantock and development on the Essex Street car park.

As Covid-19 restrictions are further increased to minimise the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, Porters Place Southend-on-Sea LLP is aware that we must move forwards with care to keep everyone safe. We have been working very hard to create the right responses to what continues to be an evolving situation and we have followed government advice on this issue to date and will continue to do so.
We understand that some residents still may not feel comfortable returning to pre-Covid-19 social contact and we may still have to adapt our usual service/s to reflect reduced staffing levels due to staff self-isolating because of Covid-19.
In line with Government advice, we are continuing to work on the regeneration of the Queensway estate. Porters Place Southend-on-Sea LLP would like to reassure you that the Better Queensway project is progressing as planned.
The project team are continuing to work with our architects, highways and transport consultants, engineering experts and our town planning consultants, to ensure we can bring you a Better Queensway. We have received planning approval for the masterplan including the highway changes. Ground work investigations and site surveys for the Better Queensway redevelopment have also been completed.
